Where to eat during The Running of the Bulls

Piquillo peppers, Txistorra, Asparagus, patxaran liquor… Navarra is famous for its excellent cuisine.

Throughout the year, Pamplona, the Navarran capital, hosts gastronomic weeks where eating poorly becomes impossible. But, what happens during The Running of the Bulls? It’s easy to find good food too?

In just nine days, Pamplona goes from having about 300,000 inhabitants to 1 million. So many of their establishments, in order to serve more diners, change their menu and lower the quality of the food.

The famous pintxos bars disappear and find a table without advance booking it is almost impossible.

I Live Spain, has selected some restaurants that offer excellent cuisine and are a “must” if you plan to travel to Pamplona during The Running of the Bulls.

Alhambra:

Located in the city center, close to the bullring, we find Alhambra. One of the most prestigious restaurants in the city, which has a modern menu with traditional touches, where its Chef uses only quality products.

Rodero:

Rodero is certainly one of the most creative and innovative of Navarra restaurants. Koldo Rodero esteemed Chef, has a Michelin Star and knows how to treat local products formidably.

Ideally located next to the Plaza de Toros, it is the perfect place for lunch before attend to the bullfight.

La Nuez:

This elegant Spanish restaurant with French influences, is located in the center of Pamplona just a few minutes walk from the bulls route.

Its menú is made with premium product, modern techniques and Navarran flavor.

San Ignacio:

San Ignacio is a sure hit. Since its openning, 80 years ago, the San Ignacio Restaurant offers traditional Navarre cuisine of high quality.

Traditional recipes, fresh and local products and friendly and attentive service are the essence of this locale. Besides., it counts with an ideal location near Estafeta street.

Europa:

The Europa Restaurant is synonymous of great cuisine. This iconic restaurant has a privileged situation, only few meters from Estafeta street, and undoubtedly it is a reference in the Navarra gastronomy.

Its Chef Pilar Idoate, has a Michelin Star and creates contemporary cuisine with traditional flavors and seasonal products.

La Cocina de Alex Mugica

Located in the old town, along the Bulls Route, in the middle of Estafeta street, we find the restaurant La Cocina de Alex Mugica.

A cozy establishment that has become indispensable place to taste creative pintxos (tapas) with unique flavors. During The Running of the Bulls, this gatsrobar, reduces their selection pintxos, but still has a special menu for lunch and dinner.
